How to Use CastAngel — Screen Mirroring & File Transfer in 3 Steps

This guide walks you through setting up CastAngel for screen mirroring and file transfer over your local WiFi. No internet connection needed, no cloud, no install — just a Windows PC and any device with a browser on the same network. Follow the three steps below and you'll be up in under a minute.

What you need

A Windows PC (Windows 7 SP1 through 11, 32-bit or 64-bit) and any device with a modern browser — phone, tablet, or another PC. Both must be on the same WiFi network. That's it.

Step 1 — Run CastAngel on the PC

Double-click the CastAngel executable. No install wizard, no setup — it runs immediately and drops into the system tray. It will show you a URL like http://192.168.1.2:12377. That's the address you'll open on your other device.

Step 2 — Open the URL on your device

On your phone, tablet, or another computer, open that URL in any browser — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. You must be on the same WiFi network as the PC. The page loads instantly with no install required.

Step 3 — Mirror screen or drop files

You'll see the PC's screen with full mouse and keyboard control. To transfer files, just drag and drop — they land on the PC's desktop automatically. Close the tab when you're done; CastAngel keeps running.

Tips

Set a fixed IP so the URL never changes

By default, your PC's IP may change when the router restarts. Set a static IP (e.g. 192.168.1.2) in Windows Network Settings, then bookmark http://192.168.1.2:12377 on every device. The address never changes — no more typing, just click and connect.

Bookmark the URL on your devices

Once you have a fixed IP, save the URL as a bookmark on your phone and tablet. Next time, one tap and you're connected.

Common issues

Can't find the PC? Check you're on the same WiFi

Both devices must be on the same network. If your phone is on 5GHz and the PC is on 2.4GHz, some routers treat them as separate networks. Connect both to the same band.

Firewall blocking? Allow the port in Windows Firewall

If Windows Firewall is blocking the connection, allow port 12377 (screen) and 12399 (files) in Windows Defender Firewall settings. CastAngel usually prompts for this on first run.

Slow transfer? Move closer to the router

Local network speed depends on WiFi signal strength. Move closer to the router or use a 5GHz connection for faster transfers.
